Hi everyone,
RRC connects, but functions that move or read robot joints don’t work. In other words, as you see in the screenshots, after RRC connects, the commands run without error, but the robot doesn’t move or doesn’t give joint values. Please let me know how to resolve this issue. Thanks!
As an extra note, I tried compose restart and even restarting the robot controller, but didn’t help.
Hi Mahsa,
It looks like you have some basic issues. Please try the following steps:
-
Reset your toolchain:
- Python: Kill all open terminals
- Docker: Stop and remove all your containers (compose down)
- Robot: Program Pointer to Main (PP to Main)
-
Start toolchain:
- Robot: Motor On and start RAPID application (_RRC-Driver)
- Docker: Compose up (make sure the IP address matches your network setup - “Connect” should pop up on the robot controller, as long as you’ve allowed messages to show on the FlexPendant; this confirms the connection is established)
- Python: Run a script from COMPAS_RRC_Start, e.g. “hello world” or “get_and_move_to_frames”
Please let me know if this works.
Best
Philippe
Hi Philippe,
I have tried these steps a few times; unfortunately, it doesn’t work. I agree that these steps worked before, but this time it doesn’t.
Hi Philippe,
I just realized that the Ethernet cable was not properly connected; it is now solved. Thank you!
Hi Mahsa,
Thanks for your feedback and for the honest response. Sometimes the cause of a connection issue can indeed be as simple as a cable not being connected properly.
When troubleshooting an unclear situation, I usually recommend starting with a few basic checks. For example, you can use ABB RobotStudio to verify whether your laptop and the robot controller can communicate with each other. You can use One Click or Connect to Controller for this.
If the connection cannot be established, it is often worth checking the basic network configuration first, such as the physical network connection and the IP configuration.
When connecting via the Service Port (IRC5) or the Management Port (OmniCore), a connection should generally be possible. If you are using the WAN port instead, the 3119-1 RobotStudio Connect option may be needed.
Thanks again for the feedback, and I’m glad to hear that COMPAS_RRC is working as usual.
Best,
Philippe
